Africa's most talked about leisure venue, Legend Golf and Safari Resort, has now unlocked their gates to its majestic monumental architectural great enclosure and is inviting mountain bike enthusiasts to enjoy the experience of a lifetime. The MTN ‘Tour of Legends’ is an exclusive three day mountain bike tour in the Waterberg that guarantees, five star accommodation, exquisite food, the thrilling presence of the big five and last but definitely not least, top class mountain biking. The MTN ‘Tour of Legends’ will be the first multi day mountain bike stage race and will take place from the 16th to the 19th of August 2012, at theLegend Golf and Safari Resort, Entabeni Conserve, Limpopo. Situated in the World Heritage ‘Waterberg Biosphere’ of the Waterberg Mountain Region of South Africa, The Entabeni Conservancy offers a 22 000 ha malaria free, big five game reserve and boasts with five eco-systems.

 

The upper escarpment offers breath taking rock formations and wide open grass plains. The 1 900 ft cliffs separate the lower from the upper escarpment and comprises of wet and savannah grasslands. The Resort is situated within the Entabeni Safari Conservancy and consists of an exceptional golf course with a luxury estate as well as facilities where wildlife and spectacular landscapes are all part of an intended lifestyle. Reflecting the rich cultural legacy of this ancient part of Africa, this resort sets new standards in exclusivity and tranquillity.

 

According to Fritz Pienaar, owner and founder of Advendurance, the company responsible for the organisation of the MTN ‘Tour of legends’, the main motivation behind this race is the continuous influx of mountain bike enthusiasts and participants. ‘This race creates an ideal environment for networking’, says Pienaar, ‘being the most popular sport amongst high earning individuals’. What makes this race so unique is the fact that the MTN Tour of Legends will be the first multi day mountain bike stage race, with five star accommodation, exquisite food and to be the first race that will be taking place in a big five game reserve. Pienaar believes that combining the rough and toughness of the outdoors, with a luxurious setting corporates expect, promises to become a new craze, satisfying a much greater crowd in the world of mountain biking.

 

MTN, the main sponsor, was intrigued by the concept and immediately agreed to take the title of main sponsor. MTN has however limited the entries to the race to their utmost prestige clients, and will be managed by invitation only. This race, comprising of 500 riders or 250 teams of two, is without a doubt an exclusive, once in a lifetime experience. The riders are going to experience the animals and the bush like never before and after the uphill battle and blood sweat, they will be treated to the utmost of luxury.

 

Zoon Cronje, founder and owner of ZC Marketing Consulting – responsible for all media and PR-related issues for Advendurance – emphasises this race’s exclusivity, having to be an MTN Premier client and subsequently receiving an invite from MTN. ‘This is an exclusive experience for MTN top executives and clients where they get to experience something money cannot buy’, says Cronje. According to Leeanne de Beer, Group Marketing Manager for Legend Lodges, Hotels and Resorts, this race is totally unique – a first that will be combining five star accommodation and dining experience with the big five element over a three day event.
